My name is Osheta. It's pronounced, "O-she-da" and so many people have asked if it means something. It doesn't. My dad just made it up.
But if I were to go to Urban Dictionary and create a definition for my name it might say something like this:
An ENFJ mama who loves parties, people, and popcorn with red wine. A pastor's wife who is convinced God has a sense of humor. A Peacemaker who loves Jesus a lot and cusses... a little. An optimistic cookbook reader. A hopeless romantic. A goofball with a little bit of sass.

7 days agoby oshetamY'all. We're rethinking our dining room and I've realized that we're at an impasse with the design. I am so here for this cheery and chic yellow dining room but T.C. hates it. He's all into cool, modern, black, and sleek. And I want YELLOW, bright, country-cozy, and farmhouse. After hours of searching (and I do mean hours, y'all) I thought this design from the blog "A Beautiful Mess" by Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman was a good compromise. Nope, nope, nopity- NOPE. He's still against it. Help... because this Shalom Sista is about to throw a decorative pillow at…
2 days agoby oshetamFor my Sistas remembering the loss of their babies today, I'm praying for you. While I'll never fully understand your pain, I will try to be a gentle person with whom you can process. I know I’ll never completely understand your confusion, but I'll listen to your questions and not give pat answers. I'll be your biggest cheerleader and I'll tell you every single moment that you have all the permission you need to remember, lament, mourn, and share. I'll also tell you every chance I get that you are enough— motherhood and pregnancy does not make me better, more…
4 hours agoby oshetamIf you're local and in need of a morning filled with joy, come hear me speak at Pasadena Mennonite Church this Sunday, Oct. 22, 10-noon. After church there's going to be little book release party. I'm teaching on using joy as one way to reflect the shalom of the Kingdom of Heaven right in our lives and its unique capacity to be a weapon against despair. They'll be lots of laughter, some yellow, and mid-talk giveaways because... well... joy! #shalomsistas#subversive#joy
2 days agoby oshetamEvery Sunday I want to share with y’all the bulletin from Pasadena Mennonite Church because it is wonderfully curated with songs and liturgies to encourage us to be peacemakers. Welp... today I HAD to share because our liturgy began “Mother God” and I kinda had a clappy happy Holy Spirt moment right here in the pews. It’s so healing to think about God as both heavenly father and mother.
