My name is Osheta. It's pronounced, "O-she-da" and so many people have asked if it means something. It doesn't. My dad just made it up.
But if I were to go to Urban Dictionary and create a definition for my name it might say something like this:
An ENFJ mama who loves parties, people, and popcorn with red wine. A pastor's wife who is convinced God has a sense of humor. A Peacemaker who loves Jesus a lot and cusses... a little. An optimistic cookbook reader. A hopeless romantic. A goofball with a little bit of sass.

1 week agoby oshetam#Repost@shalominthecity with @repostapp ・・・ Because I always get overwhelmed on #earthday . You know, I want to seek the Shalom of the earth but, sometimes, I don't know where to begin, so I'm just going to pay attention. The cardboard in my kitchen that needs to be recycled- that's my practice of shalom today. Turning off the lights when I leave the room- that's my practice as walk through my home. Carpooling to Trader Joe's- that's my practice of Shalom for both the world and my community. Small, practical everyday acts of paying attention, Sistas- this is how we move…
22 hours agoby oshetamShalom Sistas has a book cover, y'all! Isn't is beautiful? I love it so much and the message inside is my love letter to all the peacemakers in the world about how we can embody the kingdom of God right here in our everyday lives! It's about knowing our identity as beloveds and telling better stories about our enemies and choosing peacemaking over peacekeeping. It's about resting and creating rest for those in the margins and how to show up for our sistas in crisis. It's about believing we are enough and accepting God's invitation to partner with him to…

She goes to the airport or jails and advocate for people being deported She listens to their stories and writes down important details—all the time remembering to smile because…
3 days agoby oshetamAfter a year of writing, "Shalom Sistas: Living Wholeheartedly in a Brokenhearted World" I'm finally finished! I once heard that the book you must write is the book you've always wanted to read and I can say, unequivocally "Shalom Sistas" is that book. It's 200+ pages of me sitting next to you as your resident shalom sista and cheering you on to be a peacemaker in your everyday life with stories of my own peacemaking fails, examples from Jesus' ministry, a few of my favorite recipes, and a couple of references to pop Divas like our girls Whitney Houston, Janet…
